How many times do you get the opportunity to go to York as an owner of a favourite?!
We are giving you the opportunity to do that this Friday, after we purchase U Turn this morning from Tim Easterby.
The two year old colt is 4lb clear on RPR’s for the Rous and he arrives having finished second to Alaskan Light up in Musselburgh at the weekend.
He first came onto our radar on debut when he set some very strong fractions at Pontefract in a restricted maiden that Saucy Jane ran in, with the race working our well, the winner wasn’t beaten far in the two year old trophy at Beverley and the third has also won since.
It would be his Beverley run that made us become interested in buying him, he finished a fast finishing third, with the comments, unlucky in running, will improve for a step up in trip being applied. He gave the second placed horse 14lb which is a remarkable chunk of weight for a two year old at this time of the year, whilst he gave the winner 4lb.
He took another step forward at Musselburgh, chasing home our well regarded filly who was in receipt of weight from U Turn and he is simply a “winner in waiting”.
We believe that win will come on Friday in the £25k Rous and we expect him to be sent off favourite for the valuable contest.
Speaking to Tim Easterby this morning, he describes the horse as hard as they come, he thrives off his work and racing and we expect him to have a busy summer, with improvement to come for the step up to six furlongs, which he tackles for the first time on Friday.
Whilst Land Force hasn’t quiet set the world alight, he is more than capable of producing a useful horse and the Land Force x Pivotal cross is just about the most successful cross for the stallion with two of the three other examples, winning races and achieving RPR’s in the 80’s.
This horse is going to have a busy summer, he’ll run plenty and will be picking up his fair share of prize money along the way, with Friday’s contest carrying over £12,000 to the winner.
If he places and is claimed for £30,000, then owners will receive their prize money.
This horse WILL be winning races and we’d be amazed if he doesn’t cover his purchase price by the end of the season.
