PHOENIX OF SPAIN X BACHELIERE

We have another exciting acquisition to announce having agreed to purchase a Phoenix of Spain filly from Irish classic winning trainer, Adrian Keatley. Adrian has a fantastic eye at the sales, his Irish Guineas winning cost him just 12,000gns whilst his Ebor second cost just 8,500gns!

In truth, we've only bought half of the filly with Adrian keen to retain the remaining 50% as he very much likes what he see's!

She was purchased from the Goffs Premier Yearling sale in August 2025, Nick saw her twice and noted "nice filly, good walk, may need time".

As the Goffs sale is the first of the sales season, you often don't want to pick up too many especially with the comments may need time, with the uncertainty of what's to come at the following sales.

If she'd have been at a later sale, we'd have probably purchased her there and then.

The fact that she is pleasing Adrian already is extremely positive, she enjoys her exercise and is thriving the more her work is stepped up, moving with real purpose throughout.

Phoenix of Spain stands at the Irish National Stud for €12,500 so the fact that we have been able to pick up a well regarded filly for such a modest price is a real bonus and we thank Adrian for the opportunity.

We already have a potentially smart filly by Phoenix of Spain at Karl Burke's and hopefully this filly can follow suit. She looks a spit of her stallion which would tell you that she won't be super early but based on her exercise and how easily she is getting through things, we should see her on the track before Royal Ascot.

Phoenix of Spain has already produced several group winning females, in 2025 alone he produced Lady of Spain, Atsila, Cheshire Dancer whilst Adrian has also tasted success with the stallion in the shape of listed placed, Flying Finn.

This filly qualifies for a €10,000 IRE bonus should she win a qualifying maiden which we'll be hoping to target once she hits the track, whilst the valuable restricted race calendar will also be targeted. 

We have an excellent record in these types of races, simply put, we tend to purchase the best horses in band D company and just last year we won five £30k restricted novices, including one at Epsom with another daughter of Phoenix of Spain, Mayaada, who has improved a lot from two to three, just as you'd expect from the stallion.

In the past couple of seasons, Adrian has tasted plenty of juvenile success with wins in the G3 Sirenia Stakes and Listed events, Prix De La Fleche, Harry Roseberry Stakes and last seasons renewal of the Listed Marygate at York whilst running horses to place in the Richmond and Acomb Stakes from a relatively small team of horses and his recommendation should not be easily passed over.
