highly exciting 3yo... stakes horse in the making

IMPRESSIVE ON DEBUT!

Being a May foal, there is no surprise that this Coolmore bred, Saxon Warrior colt took a little while to come to hand and based on the promising homework that the yard had seen, they where more than willing to give him all the time he needed.

He made his debut this September at Chester, a track that is notoriously difficult to concede racecourse experience especially when you are trapped wide throughout. This horse overcame all of those obstacles to run to an RPR of 80 on debut, beating a fair form stick in the process.

His current owners had been hoping for close to six figures on Monday but when we saw he had attracted little interest, Hugh Taylor gave us the prompt we needed and we picked up the phone right away. We are delighted to get the deal for a half share done, the yard were keen to retain a share and we fended off some strong opposition on the proviso that we look to support the yard in the future.

the best is yet to come

Our eyes opened when we learnt that he was the best work horse in the yard which is a fair feat given there are several top end handicappers in the yard. Recent group three winner, Sparks Fly would be our colts work partner and Dave was keen to point out that we would regularly come up in front, sometimes by as many as three lengths.. promising so far!

Even more promising is the level of improvement that should follow, Hugh Taylor, who is often on hand to assist in our workings for the HIT sales, has sent over his workings which show that David’s debutant winners improve by 16lb on average.

The yard have had sixteen debut winners since 2020 and all but one have gone on to be rated 90 or higher. Those include group winners, Anshoda, King of Steel and Go Bears Go!

Just one debutant winner (Go Bears Go) has ever ran to a mark of 90 or higher on debut and he would go on to win three group races and now finds himself standing as a stallion at Oak Lodge Stud.

Everything points to this horse been rated in the high 90’s at a minute and he could quiet easily follow in the footsteps of his half brother, Kings Field, who ran to a mark into three figures on several occasions.
