Minzaal is an exciting addition to the stallion roster, a group one winner as a three year old, he was out the first three on just one occasion in stakes races throughout his racing career which saw him line up in ten stakes racing, all but one being group races.
He would record an RPR of 125 when obliterating the field in the Betfair Sprint Cup over six furlongs and the early signs are very strong for his yearlings which many selling for six figures across the various yearling sales, including one filly that sold for 450,000gns earlier this week.
An emphatic Gimcrack winner as a two year old, he has really stamped his progeny well and I’d expect to see him prominent in the betting for the first season sire odds once they are released.
This filly looks sharp, athletic but she is far from all speed, there’s plenty of Zoffany in this cross and she should make an excellent three year old… Guineas dreaming!
The dam, Sunniyra is from a strong Aga Khan family with stakes performers right down the page, the first foal out of the mare, Mehsun cost just 40,000gns as a yearling despite been by Mehmas which tells us he wasn’t a very good looking horse. He has ran two a mark in the mid 70’s on both career starts and I am told that his connections expect him to improve plenty over the winter, making into a nice three year old.
Zoffany is an excellent damsire, theres a long list of group performers that Zoffany mares have produced, Tamfana would be one of the most high profile examples in Europe, whilst he has produced two of the most successful Japenese bred horses, Sunrise Zipangu and Licancabur who have won almost £2,000,000 in prize money between them.
Ralph Beckett was high on our list of trainers we wished to send our horses to from this year, he excels when training horses that want seven furlongs plus and we have found him a pleasure to deal with since we had our first horse with him earlier this year.
Alarming finished fourth in the £100k EBF fillies final before picking up a £30k Juddmonte novice this evening, landing a £20k GB bonus in the process.
Our owners had been telling us that we must have more horses with Ralph where possible based on their owners experience on track and we were delighted when Ralph said he would be happy to train more of our horses, with owners now having to be invited to the yard fi they wish to send horses to Kimpton Down Stables.
You name a group race, Ralph has won it and we hope we can strengthen that record in 2026 and beyond.
As mentioned above, this filly won’t be out in April or May, but she’s a filly we will look to have on the track possibly in June in the weeks leading up to Royal Ascot.
When we are entering our horses, we often see Ralph’s horses entered in our races and it’s a pleasing sign that he is on the same lines regarding thinking a little outside the box.
She has a €10,000 IRE Incentive to win and we’ll be plotting our maiden campaign to include this before thinking about races like the £100k EBF Fillies final and stakes races, not only in the UK but also over in France, a trip Ralph likes to make regularly.
We want to aim high, NBR don’t often spend this type of money on horses but Nick felt an opportunity presented itself late in the day and this special filly was worth stretching for.
