She can be seen on the near side here earlier this week (10th Nov), Gemma is very happy with her progress and we should be able to start going through the gears and thinking about taking her for a race course gallop in the coming weeks with a debut around Christmas.
We might be a couple of months behind schedule but we gave this filly every chance to fill her frame which should enable her to fulfil the promise shown physically. She is a very nice model and we look forward to seeing her step forward in the coming weeks.
Give customers a reason to do business with you.
Our filly has really blossomed for her summer in the paddock, she was always going to be a horse for the back end of the year and she will shortly go back to Gemma's as he steps up her preparation for the final part of the season, into the all weather season which progeny of her stallion excel on.
Gemma Tutty is particular sweet on our Lightning Spear filly, purchased from Book Three for 21,000gns, making her the most expensive yearling by the stallion in 2024.
She has done well with progeny of Lightning Spear previously, and its fair to say that both her and Einer of Kings Bloodstock, have a good eye for a good one by the stallion.
King of Lightning showed tons of ability on his debut for the yard and more recently, King's School has been a big improver for them, featuring heavily in the ARC All weather leaderboard.
An outstanding physical, Nick felt she was definitely in the top five fillies selling on her day, which is why we were so keen to secure her.
Her price was also driven up by the fact that the full brother is a very successful horse, winning six of his last starts for William Knight after being brought along steadily during his "Qualifying Runs".
The recently sanctioned GBBPlus scheme is also a major feather in our fillies cap, this rewards owners with a substantial bonus (£20,000) should they win a qualifying maiden or even a nursery in the second half of the season!
For Flat races, alongside the normal GBB bonus, GBBPLUS will offer an additional bonus of up to £20,000 for fillies whose covering fee was £50,000 or less winning:
Class 2 -4 maiden, novice and conditions races at eight furlongs and over for two-year-olds, and at 10 furlongs and over for three-year-olds. Races that fulfil all core and extension criteria will therefore be worth up to £40,000 to a filly.
For 2-Year-olds, GBBPLUS will payout in nurseries eight furlongs and over.
Should she follow the profile of her full brother, there's a major financial incentive to rewards her owners and not only should she be plenty of fun, she'll also more than pay her way...
When our filly is ready to run, she qualifies for the band "C" restricted races which insure she will only be lining up against animals that cost less than £40,000 there or thereabouts.
As previously highlighted, her purchase price is incredibly important and all but one of our class of 25 qualify for band "C" restricted races, just as this filly does. This provides us with a big advantage when plotting our route through maiden and novice company, should a horse cost over 40,000gns then they can't run in around a quarter of the maidens and novices in Great Britain.
There are several restricted contests that carry the Juddmonte banner, which means they are worth between £30,000-£40,000 in prize money. Historically, several of these that are ran over seven and eight furlongs can be relatively weak contests in the North and they are races we'll pay considerable attention to.
Gemma has already produced the goods for NBR, Look Back Smiling was the Spring Mile winner in 2024 and has gone on to amass almost £100,000 in prize money!
Blue Storm was almost the yards first Royal Ascot winner, finishing second in the Palace of Holyrood House Stakes after picking up the Epsom 3yo Dash just weeks prior.
She has also proven that she can train a 2yo, Elsie's Ruan would win at York on debut in 2024 before going on to finish third in Group Three Sweet Solera Stakes.
