Our first purchase of the Tattersalls Guineas breeze up sale was lot 194, a Kodi Bear filly purchased from DNA Equine.
The name of the consignor is a key piece of the puzzle this time around, with Nick is regular contact with breeze up consignors at this time of the year. It was reported to us that this filly was as the stand out in all their homework and she ran reached a top speed of almost 44mph!
They weren’t particularly happy with the fillies breeze on Wednesday as they expected her to record an extremely quick time based on her homework.
DNA sold horses for £130k and £70k last week at the Goffs breeze up sale and neither had been able to match her gallop data back in Ireland. If this filly had of clocked as they expected, they’d have been paid once again, a fair bit more than what we had to go to!
Looking at the splits from her breeze, she was the 7th fastest horse over the first furlong, recording a 28th quickest time of over 160 lots that came up. She was also her jockeys fastest ride by some way.
There’s also plenty to like on the page, by Kodi Bear a stallion we have had plenty of success with, including Epsom Oaks 2nd, Mystery Angel, who was also bought from this sale.
The mare is an Irish maiden winner out of a six furlong listed winner.
Our filly is a full sister to three other horses by Kodi Bear, who have recorded RPR’s of 85, 75 and 73.
Physically, she was one of the stand out fillies in the sale, Nick loved her on both occasions he pulled her out and it’s safe to say so did our trainers as we had multiple options.
We opted to go with David Easterby, our string is growing by the day there and we have an excellent working relationship with the yard and it’s a joy to see the results starting to flourish, including The Resdev Scholar and A War Eagle.
This filly qualifies for a €10,000 bonus and we shall we targeting those races once she is ready to run. Based on what we saw in her breeze and the data that has been shared with us, we don’t expect it to be too long before she is out over six furlongs.
As she cost under £40,000, we can aim her at the lucrative £30k restricted novices that start very shortly c races we have an excellent record in.
DNA Equine were pretty bullish in their claims, stating that they think she is a listed filly based on her high level of homework.
