This filly ticks plenty of boxes: an exciting young sire whose first yearlings are attracting strong demand, a pedigree with familiar speed influences, Band D opportunities and a trainer enjoying an excellent strike rate.
Purchased from Clonmult Farm at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale, she will join Charlie Clover. The timing could hardly have been better—on the day we bought her, Poppy Foxy won the British EBF £100,000 Two-Year-Old Fillies’ Series Final at Goodwood for Nick Bradley Racing and Charlie. It was a memorable result for our owners and gives us every reason to look forward to developing another filly together.
Good Guess will have his first runners in 2027, and his first yearlings have already made a strong impression in the sales ring. They have sold for up to €200,000, with others fetching £100,000, while a filly made €100,000 at this year’s Tattersalls Ireland September Sale. That reception is encouraging as we look ahead to his first two-year-olds reaching the racecourse.
A son of Kodiac, Good Guess won on his two-year-old debut before developing into a Group 1 winner, taking the Prix Jean Prat by three lengths. His granddam is the outstanding Russian Rhythm, giving him a strong pedigree alongside his racecourse credentials.
Our filly’s dam, Allez Louise, is by Acclamation and was placed on debut during a brief two-race career. She is a half-sister to winners The Kodi Kid and The Bear Trap, both by Kodi Bear. With Kodi Bear and Good Guess both sons of Kodiac, there is an encouraging precedent for the Kodiac sire line within this immediate family.
Charlie’s excellent strike rate adds to the appeal. His recent record shows roughly one winner for every five runners, and Poppy Foxy’s Goodwood success demonstrates his ability to deliver in valuable company.
The Band D restricted programme is the intended route for this filly, before hoping we can step her up in class as the season develops where we will hope to emulate our success with Poppy Foxy who is now bound for stakes company.
