Gleneagles, a son of Galilieo, was a dual group one winner himself at both two and three. He recorded a British and Irish Guineas double in 2015 and would go on to an impressive victory in St James’ Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
He has produced a plethora of group winners himself including five group one winners, notably July Cup winner Mill Stream and dual group one winner, Calandagan, showing his versatility as a stallion.
Ralph is a big fan of the Gleneagles as a stallion, he has trained four horses by the sire with all four winning as a two year old.
The full sister to this filly, Morven, is also trained by Ralph. She won her maiden impressively on her second start and is set to contest a listed race on Monday, with Ralph advising that she is more than capable of picking up some blacktype with a stakes victory not out the question.
It’s a strong Shadwell family, the dam is a half sister to two group winners on the continent with champion filly Shadayid further down the page which also includes our very own, Al Qareem!
The breeder, Kildaragh Stud, is very confident this filly will be a success and they have kindly taken a 25% share in her.
Ralph Beckett was high on our list of trainers we wished to send our horses to from this year, he excels when training horses that want seven furlongs plus and we have found him a pleasure to deal with since we had our first horse with him earlier this year.
Alarming finished fourth in the £100k EBF fillies final before picking up a £30k Juddmonte novice this evening, landing a £20k GB bonus in the process.
Our owners had been telling us that we must have more horses with Ralph where possible based on their owners experience on track and we were delighted when Ralph said he would be happy to train more of our horses, with new owners now having to be invited to the yard if they wish to send horses to Kimpton Down Stables.
You name a group race, Ralph has won it and we hope we can strengthen that record in 2026 and beyond.
We’d be expecting to see this filly on the track from the middle of the year onwards in 2026, we’d love to replicate her full sister, picking up a maiden before going to the £100k EBF Fillies final and hopefully stakes races on the back of that.
The dream is the Oaks, we finished second in 2021 with a filly called Mystery Angel and we believe this filly and trainer combination give us a chance of achieving that once again.
Like our other purchase heading to Ralph’s, there is a €10,000 IRE Incentive to be won by picking up a qualifying maiden, something we will be targeting when plotting her early moves.
