We are delighted to welcome Lot 500 from the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale to Nick Bradley Racing. Consigned by Baroda Stud, this daughter of Dragon Symbol is the first foal of the Kodiac mare Memorial Verse and will go into training with James Owen.
Dragon Symbol’s first yearlings are selling this year, with his first runners due in 2027. A high-class sprinter, he finished first past the post in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot before being placed second following a stewards’ enquiry. He also finished second in the July Cup and third in the Nunthorpe, demonstrating his ability against top-class opposition over both five and six furlongs. Standing at Whitsbury Manor Stud, he brings an appealing influence of speed to this mating.
The dam, Memorial Verse, is a daughter of Kodiac out of Remember Alexander, giving our filly a strong foundation of juvenile performance in her immediate family. Remember Alexander won the Group 3 Tyros Stakes at two, beating subsequent Dewhurst winner Parish Hall by four lengths. She is also a half-sister to Memory, adding further depth to the pedigree.
Kodiac’s record as a broodmare sire is particularly encouraging. His daughters have produced Group 1 winners Charyn and The Platinum Queen, alongside our own Group 3-winning filly Corazon. Combining that influence with Dragon Symbol’s sprinting ability makes this an interesting mating for a prospective two-year-old.
She will join James Owen, who has demonstrated his ability to develop talented juveniles, notably with Wimbledon Hawkeye, winner of the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes. James was absolutely mad on this filly, comments he echoed to Coral Cove who was also bought from this sales one year prior.
Tattersalls Ireland has already provided Nick Bradley Racing with memorable purchases. Dandalla, bought for €22,000, won the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, while Corazon, an £11,000 purchase, landed the Group 3 Prix d’Arenberg.
