We are delighted to announce another addition to our 2yo string and this time it’s our first male!
Nick has always stated that it would take a smart one to come along to sway him and we hope this sharp juvenile is exactly that!
He is in full training with Tim Easterby who had an outstanding season with his 2yos last year…. More on that below!
Tim and his team has asked their early 2yos to step up a couple of gears this morning and this Caturra gelding was the one to take out of the work, which can be seen above.
Whilst it was a rather foggy morning in Great Habton, it’s not hard to spot our new purchase leaving his three work partners behind as he comes home in second behind the older work horse.
The first crop of Flying Childers winner, Caturra are set to hit the track in 2026 and given how fast and precocious he was, it comes as no surprise that we are hearing strong reports on his first crop.
As mentioned above, he's already been gelding due to his rather boisterous antics around the yard and he was taking some handling around the other juveniles.
We are confident he can take us to some nice places all summer, with a Goffs Harry’s Half Million entry already in place!
Prior to that, he opens up more avenues for us throughout the season, he qualifies for band D novices and with eight of the first ten band D novices been worth £10,000 or more (four of them over £30,000) we have a good idea of where we will be targetting in the opening couple of months.
The mare was a smart race horse herself, she won four times as a juvenile including when she bolted up by six lengths at Nottingham.
Her first produce to hit the track is a Lope Y Fernandez filly who we enquired about after a rather eye catching debut before she went on to win a Wolverhampton maiden.
Her connections believe she is a filly with tons of ability which bodes well for our lad!
Last season Tim offered us the chance to purchase two horses privately for modest amounts, one would be the consistent U Turn with the other being Listed winner, Anaisa.
Tim’s record with his juvenile was well advertised, his strong early over half a million in prize money and a 12% strike rate.
Revival Power, Argentine Tango, Anaisa where all stakes winners for the yard in 2025 whilst the main takeaway from his 2yo cohort was their durability, they ran plenty and ran to form on the vast majority of starts.
Today’s work was extremely eye catching and we would strongly recommend this colt who has been picked up for a fraction of what prices will be following at the breeze up sales over the next couple of months.
