This filly was bought from the Goffs Doncaster Breeze Up Sales on 22nd April 2026 for £20,000.
The 2026 Breeze Up Sales have been much weaker than recent years and that was definitely the case at this sale as their was tremendous value on offer.
This is a filly that we first met in early March when Nick, Sam James and Pierre Louis Jamin went to Newmarket to sit on some of our string and some horses who were being prepped for the breeze ups. This filly was undoubtedly the pick of The boys on the day and we made two efforts to buy her with bids of £40,000 and £50,000 for her around 10 days apart after both Sam rode her and then Pierre rode her in pieces of work. Both lads loved her and we were very keen to get her.
Her vendor Shortcastle Bloodstock were selling breeze up horses for the first time and had a disappointing start at Newmarket where four horses were presented and only one sold in the ring. A couple of those horses were held in high regard but breezed similarly moderately on the clock suggesting their prep wasn't quite right compared to some of the bigger more established consignors.
This filly stands around 15'2 and was a bit sore infront following her breeze up the Doncaster track but nothing that concerned Phil Makin who will train her. She produced a solid breeze recording splits of 11.2 (106th of 206) and 10.45 (91st of 206) with a gallop out of 4.11 (90th of 206) and recording the 99th fastest breeze on the day.
This was a consistent breeze and very similar to the consignor's good horses who breezed at Newmarket in the previous week in terms of their evenness and rankings amongst other consignors..
Robson Nunes her rider rode six horses in the breeze ups and didn't get any to finish in the top 50 times which suggests he doesn't ask his rides for as much effort as some of the other jockeys. This filly was his third fastest of the six he rode. Shortcastle stud had two horses at this breeze up and the other horse lot 114 was 174th fastest of 206, which shows how much quicker our filly was compare to the other horse consigned.
Her £20,000 pricetag means she qualifies for all Restricted races and should be ready to run before the end of May meaning she could be a Royal Ascot candidate.
GIven Sam and Pierre's recommendations for this filly we have to think we have secured an absolute bargain and both Phil and Sam took a share in her, after she gave Sam such a great feel when he rode her in March.
This Goffs Sale has been kind to us over the years with the likes of Marshman, Cool Molly and Glamis Road all coming from the sale in recent years.
Phil Makin trains in Middleham and is using the same gallops as Karl Burke uses since his move to the area. Phil has already sent out a 2yo to finish 2nd on its debut this season and is more than capable of training a high class 2yo.
