We are delighted to welcome this daughter of Australia, purchased at Goffs and heading into training with Phil Makin. Out of Sweeproad, a daughter of No Nay Never, she combines a stallion with an excellent record of producing high-class fillies with a particularly promising pedigree cross.
Australia’s record with fillies is a major attraction. His daughters include Cercene, winner of the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, and Ocean Road, successful in the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes in America. Port Fairy added another Royal Ascot highlight when winning the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes, while Cayenne Pepper and Epona Plays are further examples of the quality he produces. This is a stallion whose daughters have repeatedly delivered on the biggest stages.
He can also produce talented juvenile fillies. Beyond Reason won the Group 2 Prix du Calvados and Group 3 Prix Six Perfections at two, demonstrating that his daughters can make their mark early as well as develop into high-class older performers. That versatility is particularly appealing when buying a filly with her racing career ahead of her.
The Australia–No Nay Never cross gives us another strong reason for enthusiasm. It has already produced Wemightakedlongway, winner of the Group 3 Salsabil Stakes and placed at Group 1 level. Coolmore’s 2026 handbook highlighted that she came from just three foals bred on this exact cross—a small sample, but a very encouraging result with the other two running to marks in the 80's and 90's.
We like the balance this mating offers: Australia brings Classic quality and stamina, while No Nay Never introduces an influence renowned for speed and two-year-old ability. The wider family connection is encouraging too, with Australia’s dual Derby-winning son Lambourn out of a mare by Scat Daddy, the sire of No Nay Never. That supports our interest in this combination without relying solely on one successful filly.
She joins Phil Makin following a good season with his two-year-olds in 2026.
We are looking forward to seeing him develop her, with a pedigree that offers appeal for her juvenile season and plenty to anticipate as she matures.
A proven sire of top-class fillies, an exciting cross already responsible for a Group performer, and a trainer enjoying success with his youngsters—there is plenty to like about this purchase.
